Optimize Vista
This is a small guide for optimizing Vista...As you may know vista comes with higher requirements and awesome eye candy which hits performance. Here are a few ways to get it running fast....
First do all of what is said in Optimizing xp guide. Most of the tweaks found there should work.Services configs are found at http://www.blackviper.com/WinVista/servicecfg.htm. Second of all install all windows updates and update to Vista SP1
Turning off Eye Candy
First turn off aero if your computer isnt that new or has low specs..Also right click my computer and go to advanced and under performance press settings then press adjust for best performance........Turn off the sidebar by right clicking it and going to properties and unticking start when windows starts...and disable live previews by right clicking the taskbar and untick show live previews.
Misc Tweaks
Disable indexing by going to my computer and right click all your drives and go to properties and untick index drive for faster file searching. If youre using a 3rd party app to defrag then go to task scheduler and disable auto defragmentation. Go to Control panel and power options and set for high performance A good way of speeding up HDD activity is by going to my computer. Right click your drive with windows vista on it. Right click it properties and untick index files for faster files searching. You can tweak a lot of stuff but not performance wise if you go to run dialog and type in gpedit.msc.
Programs
You can use all the programs used in Optimize XP guide. TweakVi is a great program which has a free basic edition.
Sorry for this being so short but most tweaks are already found in Optimize XP guide and should work for Vista.
